Orchestrating for BBC drama

Some good news: I have been approached to do some of the orchestrations for an upcoming BBC series called Superstorm. The sessions will take place in late Feb/early March, at Abbey Road. I am really looking forward to it, it should be an exciting project.

Greenwich Theatre's Ten Minute Musical Challenge

I've just heard yesterday that I have been selected as one of the composers for another scheme that Greenwich Theatre runs, called The Ten Minute Musical Challenge. The idea is that they put together a creative team (composer/songwriter/ bookwriter) who have ONE DAY to write a ten-minute musical which will be performed that evening.

The event will take place at Greenwich Theatre in February: I will post more details as they emerge. I feel v excited about this, it could be a great opportunity to work with new people in the industry.

Busy busy busy

January is proving a busy month so far: besides the various bits and pieces of uni marking and teaching, I am also still working on a new recording project and have a couple of other exciting things on the go I will talk about a bit later on. I have had a few jazz gigs recently which have been a lot of fun, and am anticipating a few more.

My PR rep Jimbo is currently designing a new webpage for me which is looking extremely cool. I understand that my CD Jazzed Tales has begun to sell in Japan which is good news, and I am hoping that Preludes and Suites will also be sold there. (Quck plug: both are still available from Amazon and can be ordered at HMV and Virgin Superstores).

Happy New Year to everyone. I type this in Devon, where I have seen in the new year with Jimbo and his family, which has been an extremely pleasant break. I am returning to London today, and then onto Oxford, where I will be helping my brother David move house. After that I have a jazz gig (a wedding in Kirtlington for Becca and John), and then Southampton Uni term restarts.... a hectic start to the year.
